Es ist ein alles andere als gemütlicher Morgen in den Dandenong Ranges, einer stark bewaldeten Bergkette im Südosten Australiens, die immer wieder von sintflutartigen Regenfällen heimgesucht wird. An einer Siedlung am Fuße eines Aufstiegs stürzen plötzlich Jill, Beth, Bree und Lauren panisch aus dem Dickicht. Die Frauen frieren, sind komplett durchnässt und teilweise verletzt. Noch viel schlimmer ist allerdings, dass sie die fünfte ihrer Gruppe vermissen: Alice. Die lokale Polizei hat bei der Suche in dem dichten Unterholz große Schwierigkeiten voranzukommen und alarmiert deshalb die Bundesbehörden.
