After the disaster at Dunkirk, the French Armoured Forces tried to rebuild its power using everthing at hadn in the depots: older vehicels, prototypes, tanks and armoured car hulls awaiting their turrets, etc. The first batch of new AFV's are also sent to fighting units and the overseas manufacturers are called for help too: the ultimate aim is "to hold fast". Using many unpublished documents, this work tries for the first time to present these "armoured pebbles", often unkown, to depict in the most complete way the materiels that were fielded in the hope of an impossible survival.
