MAP Audio MFX combines modular routing, a collection of built-in effects, and extensive modulation capabilities in one plugin. Its four-cell architecture lets producers design custom signal paths without needing to load separate effect plugins for every processing stage.

The routing system supports serial and parallel processing, as well as feedback loops. Each connection has an adjustable level, giving users control over how signals move between cells. Feedback connections include a fixed 64-sample delay, while the effects placed in the loop may introduce additional delay.

Modular Routing and Feedback

The four effect cells can be patched together to create different signal-processing structures. Serial routing sends audio through successive cells, while parallel routing allows different processing paths to be combined. Feedback connections can return a signal to the same cell or an earlier cell, with the cable level controlling the amount of returned audio.

Depending on the routing arrangement and feedback level, a loop can gradually fade, sustain, or produce self-oscillation. These behaviors provide additional options for sound design and experimental processing.

Modulation and Automation

MAP Audio MFX includes six global LFOs that can run freely or synchronize to the host tempo. Users can select built-in waveforms or draw their own shapes to create custom modulation patterns.

Each cell also has a follower that can respond to its own audio or another cell's signal. A stereo sidechain can be routed into a cell for external signal following. ParamSeq provides step-by-step movement for mapped controls, while the three Combo knobs allow parameters from different cells to be controlled together. Supported controls can also be automated by the host.
