Evolution Rick 12 by Orange Tree Samples is a sampled 12-string electric guitar instrument designed to recreate the distinctive jangle and rich layered tone of a classic vintage electric guitar. The library features a carefully sampled instrument with a semi-hollow maple body, rosewood fretboard, and traditional high-gain pickups, making it suitable for a variety of electric guitar arrangements.
Developed in collaboration with Rosewood Recording Company in Utah, the library was recorded and processed under the direction of studio owner and recording engineer Guy Randle. Both the original direct guitar signal and an enhanced signal are included. The enhanced version is the default setting and adds richness and sustain while retaining the character of the instrument.
The sampling session featured guitarist Michael Dowdle, whose recording credits include work with Marie Osmond, The Osmond Brothers, John Schneider, David Archuleta, and The Jets, as well as performances on numerous film and television scores.

Evolution Rick 12 combines detailed guitar sampling with an extensive effects engine. Its collection of modeled guitar pedals, selectable cabinet sizes, and microphone options provides tools for shaping the instrument's tone without requiring external guitar effects processors.
The library includes a broad range of articulations, from sustained notes and palm mutes to natural harmonics and specialized effects such as chugs, scratches, and string slaps. Legato samples support slides, hammer-ons, and pull-offs, while additional MIDI articulations provide access to grace notes, trills, slides, octaves, and power chords.
Its performance controls include adjustable pick positioning, configurable vibrato, and a built-in strum pattern editor. The instrument also supports multitracking for building fuller guitar arrangements.
