This practical course explains how a second-hand vessel deal moves from market assessment and initial interest through Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) negotiation, closing and physical vessel delivery.
You will examine the deal lifecycle and the roles of key participants before building a structured approach to vessel due diligence. Learn how vessel particulars, class and statutory status, maintenance history, trading commitments, market comparables, operating costs and anticipated capital expenditure inform a purchase decision and negotiating position. The course then breaks down core MOA issues, including price, deposit and escrow, inspection rights, subjects, delivery terms, condition, notices, default and dispute resolution.
Next, you will turn the signed agreement into an executable plan. Follow practical pre-closing controls for corporate authority, mortgages and encumbrances, deletion and registration planning, compliance screening, insurance, document tracking and responsibility allocation.
