Egypt: the MERIMDE culture begins in the Nile, small, half-buried huts made of reed mats, with plants of circular or elliptical shape. Large buried baskets served as silos for storing grain. They knew the livestock, raised rams, sheep, oxen, goats and pigs. They also owned dogs. They hunted hippos and crocodiles along the Nile. They also fished and collected molluscs. They did not have a specific cemetery area, the dead were buried next to the settlement, in oval holes, in a contracted position, without funerary objects and scarce offerings. The bodies of the children were simply thrown into the garbage pits. The oldest, delicately crafted pottery with decoration printed on "fishbone" denotes relations with the Near East, while objects found in the following strata indicate relations with Nubia to the south. The ceramics of the upper levels are made of clay and fragments of straw, which allowed us to obtain larger containers with more closed shapes, such as pots and bottles.​
