Description
The field of International Relations has become an essential factor in understanding governments and states' interactions and how their relations can affect our life. Why should you study IR and IR theories? The answer can vary from person to person. I think that understanding IR can help you to gain an understanding of different fields and aspects of the world. From first sight, IR can seem a broad and tiring subject because it involves history, a multitude of information, social, political, cultural, economic relations, and so on. However, learning the theories of International Relations can help us to understand, analyze and explain the local, regional, global, and finally "glocal" issues.
Theories of International Relations are diverse and each theory gives us a different perspective about the world. It is like a sunglass with different colors and shapes. Each sunglass shows us a different picture. Not all theories can explain the same problem, therefore, every theory is useful on its own.
For example, when realists explain the world through the glass of power, interests, human nature, structure or system, and balance of power, liberals take another road and argue about cooperation, international institutions, domestic system, and so on. On the other hand, constructivist reject the self-perpetuating system of the world and argue that individuals, history, culture plays an essential role in the constantly changing world. We will analyze and explain these theories further in our course, and will also talk about the other theories of IR.
Theories can be tedious and slow to grasp but I will try to simplify and use more examples and cases to help you better understand the main points of IR theories.
Do you feel interested and ready? Then join the course and broaden your understanding of the Theories of International Relations.
Moreover, I would like to thank Miguel Johnson on Soundcloud for allowing me to use his music for the videos on this course.
