I've made it. I have the best job and am buying my first house at 25. I didn't account for my house being a little more work than I can handle. That's okay; I'm independent and can figure out anything thrown my way. Except maybe the neighbor across the street. Hunter. One look at him has me thinking that perhaps my life isn't complete just yet.

I keep to myself for a reason. Two years ago, I was discharged from the Army Night Stalkers with more baggage than I could handle, so I shut myself away from all human connection. Until she moves in across the street. Emerson. I feel a pull I can't run away from, but I can't offer her something I don't have to give.
When suspicious things start happening at Emerson's house, I'll do everything in my power to keep her safe, even if it costs me what little I have left of my soul in the process.
