Requirements
This course is aimed to beginners who want to step into the incredible and challenging world of digital circuits design. Thus, no prior knowledge is required to be able to fully understand the course content. Some knowledge on electronics is advantageous, but it is not required.
Description
On Digital Systems Design you will learn all the basics to be able to design digital circuits.
We will start by exploring the different numerical systems and Boolean logic, followed by optimization techniques. You will also learn how to convert Boolean expressions into digital logic, and how to decompose complex problems into smaller ones, to build hierarchical solutions.
The course follows a learn by example and by doing methodology, with theoretical concepts first being introduced, followed by a practical example, and afterwards a challenge for you to try out what you have just learned.
To provide you with a bigger challenge to truly test your skills and everything you have just learned throughout the many lectures, the course ends with a final project, in which you will build a fully functional 4-bit microprocessor, using the digital systems design tool (which is presented and introduced during the course).
