Description
Forgiving Others
What if forgiveness wasn't about saying what happened was okay, but about freeing yourself from what you have been carrying?
When someone has hurt us, it can be difficult to let go.
We may carry anger, resentment, sadness, disappointment, or pain for years. Sometimes we hold onto those feelings because part of us believes that forgiving someone means excusing what they did, forgetting what happened, or saying that it didn't matter.
But forgiveness doesn't have to mean any of those things.
Forgiving Others invites you to explore forgiveness from a different perspective-with curiosity, understanding, compassion, and a willingness to look beneath the hurt.
This course is a shorter, focused version of my fullForgiveness Course, bringing together the modules onForgiving Others andTaking Action.
Rather than forcing yourself to forgive, you'll be invited to explore why you are holding onto certain experiences, understand the person who hurt you from a different perspective, and consider what forgiveness could mean foryou.
Module 1 - Forgiving Others
In this module, you'll begin by identifying the people and experiences you may be ready to forgive.
You'll explore why certain hurts can be so difficult to release and give yourself permission to acknowledge that you had every right to feel the way you felt.
From there, we'll begin looking beneath the actions of the other person.
You'll explore the idea thatonly hurt people hurt, consider what you may recognise within yourself, and begin seeing the other person and their actions from a different perspective.
Most importantly, you'll discover that forgiveness is not really about the other person.
It is aboutyou and what you are ready to stop carrying.
We'll explore
Chapter 1 - Making Your List
Chapter 2 - The Reason You Can't Forgive
Chapter 3 - You Have a Right to Feel This Way
Chapter 4 - Only Hurt People Hurt
Chapter 5 - Seeing It in Yourself First
Chapter 6 - When You See It in Yourself, You See It in Everyone
Chapter 7 - Forgiveness Is Not About the Other Person
Chapter 8 - They Did This For Me
Chapter 9 - Moving From TO to FOR
Chapter 10 - Are You Ready to Forgive Others Now?
Module 2 - Taking Action
Forgiveness can also invite us to look honestly at ourselves and consider whether there is anything we would like to do differently now.
In this module, you'll return to your list and explore whether there is any action you feel ready to take.
Perhaps there is someone you would like to apologise to. Perhaps there is something you would like to acknowledge or take responsibility for.
You'll explore who an apology is really for, why it is okay if another person does not accept your apology, and why their response is ultimately theirs to choose.
Taking action is not about forcing reconciliation or expecting another person to respond in a particular way.
It is about taking responsibility for what belongs to you and knowing that you have done everything you can.
We'll explore
Chapter 1 - Pull Out Your List From Module 1
Chapter 2 - Who Is the Apology For?
Chapter 3 - It Is Okay If They Don't Accept Your Apology
Chapter 4 - The Other Person May Be Ready
Chapter 5 - Apologise One at a Time
Chapter 6 - You Did Everything You Could
Chapter 7 - Taking Action
A Different Way to See Forgiveness
Forgiveness does not mean forgetting what happened.
It does not mean pretending you weren't hurt.
And it does not mean saying that another person's actions were okay.
It is an opportunity to look at what happened differently, understand what you have been carrying, and decide whether you are ready to release some of its hold over you.
You cannot change what another person did.
But you can change what you choose to carry forward.
You are not forgiving them for them. You are forgiving them for you.
