The updating of knowledge and consequently the revision of an effective Text Book is a never ending process. There had been a consistent demand by a number of students and teachers of Statistics to include a chapter on "Linear Programming" in the book, since it is in the curriculum of a number of universities at the under-graduate and post-graduate level. As such, a new chapter, "Chapter 28 - Linear Programming" has been added in this revised edition.

It is hoped that with the addition of this new chapter, the book will be more useful to the readers.
An attempt has also been made to rectify the errors in the previous edition.
