Description
Hello, welcome to my course: How to Draft, Layout, and Cut a Pleated Skirt. This course is straightforward. This course is designed for beginner, intermediate, and advanced patternmaking and sewing students. The only major prerequisite is that the learner can sew a basic straight stitch using either a domestic or industrial sewing machine and is familiar with inserting an invisible zipper. However, if you are unfamiliar with inserting an invisible zipper, you may still be able to do so with this course if you pay keen attention. In this course, I have provided practical methods to help you create a pleated skirt with any measurements. I have taken into consideration the fact that this pleated skirt is considered a flared skirt, thus hangs from the waist. As a result, the side seam of the skirt must fall at the natural side seam of the body when it is worn in this area. For this, a formula is given to ensure this is the case. Attention is also given to the fact that the front and back portions of the human body are not equal. For this, the calculations that are provided ensure that this phenomenon is accounted for. Special attention is given to creating the facing and calculating the length of the skirt. The function of the position of the grainline is given attention in easy steps.
