Build reliable AI workflows with Power Automate, Claude Cowork, Codex, and Microsoft 365 Copilot.

What you'll learn

Score a recurring office process for value, feasibility, risk, and time.
Convert an ambiguous request into an evidence-based AI work order.
Map triggers, actions, workflow states, exceptions, data boundaries, and human decisions.
Build a Power Automate flow with conditions, approvals, logging, duplicate prevention, and recovery.
Assign work appropriately to Cowork, Codex, Copilot, deterministic automation, or a human reviewer.
Create traceable artifact handoffs between AI tools, Microsoft 365 files, and Power Automate.
Test missing-data, duplicate, rejected-approval, connector-failure, and unsuitable-AI-output cases.
Deliver a governed capstone automation another authorized colleague can operate.
Requirements

Basic familiarity with office files, spreadsheets, email, and recurring processes.
Access to at least one supported AI assistant.
Power Automate or Microsoft 365 access is helpful for following the complete build.
No programming experience is required.
Practice with fictional or synthetic data.
Obtain organizational approval before connecting workplace accounts or sensitive files.
Description

This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.
Recurring office work often looks simple until a missing field, duplicate request, rejected approval, or unreliable handoff brings the process to a stop. In this practical course, you will learn how to turn that fragile work into a reliable automation that is structured, tested, governed, and ready for another colleague to operate.
You will work through a fictional Northstar operations scenario while using Claude Cowork, Codex, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and Power Automate for clearly defined roles. Instead of treating every tool as interchangeable, you will decide when an AI assistant should interpret or draft, when deterministic automation should execute a rule, and when a human must retain authority.
The course begins with fast, useful outcomes. You will score an automation opportunity, convert a messy request into a reusable AI work order, build an automation-ready tracker, and ship a first Power Automate flow. You will then map triggers, workflow states, permissions, exceptions, and approval outcomes before adding duplicate prevention, logging, and recoverable error handling.
Tool-focused lessons show how Claude Cowork can turn a bounded set of files into an action pack, how Codex can support controlled file cleanup and validation, and how Microsoft 365 Copilot can help draft and analyze work in context. You will connect these capabilities through structured artifacts rather than fragile copy-and-paste instructions.
Two end-to-end cases cover request intake and a weekly operations report. You will deliberately test missing data, duplicates, rejected approvals, connector failures, and unsuitable AI output so that you can prove the workflow behaves safely when conditions are not ideal.
Across 20 lectures and approximately two hours of instruction, you will use two downloadable resources: the Office Automation Control Workbook and the Office Automation Field Guide. Together they provide practical templates for scoring opportunities, specifying flows, testing behavior, logging exceptions, measuring value, and completing the capstone.
By the end, you will have designed and tested a governed office automation, assembled evidence of its behavior, and prepared an operating pack another person can follow. No coding experience is required. Product access and capabilities vary by account, plan, administrator settings, and release, so the course emphasizes durable design principles and verification instead of promising that every feature will appear identically in every environment.
Who this course is for

Office professionals, coordinators, analysts, operations specialists, project managers, process owners, citizen developers, and team leads who need reliable, maintainable office automation.
