Instructor Vasily Strelnikov, an Oracle solution specialist who has worked with Java since version 1, teaches the essential building blocks of the language for tech professionals new to Java. Explore the Java Development Kit and its tools, and then work through variables, operators, and how Java handles text and numeric data. Practice controlling program flow with conditionals, loops, and switch statements, and see how arrays organize related values. Move into object-oriented programming by writing methods, defining classes, and creating objects, then extend those classes through inheritance. And finish by learning how to catch and throw exceptions. Every concept comes with a practice session built around a fictional scientific lab application.
