reFX Rippler combines modal and subtractive synthesis in a dual-layer instrument. Its resonator banks are designed to reproduce the characteristics of different instruments without using samples as the primary sound-generation method, while the oscillators and filters provide additional conventional synthesis capabilities.
Each layer can use parallel or serial resonator routing, with bi-directional energy coupling between resonators. Multiple envelopes and LFOs can modulate parameters throughout the instrument, and the drag-and-drop modulation system provides a direct way to create and adjust modulation connections.
The Mod Mapping system allows users to define custom response curves for modulation destinations. Curves can be shaped with linear, exponential, S-shaped, or stepped responses, providing additional control over how modulation develops over time.
