Renewable energy project development requires much more than identifying a good site or selecting solar panels and wind turbines. Land rights, environmental constraints, permitting, grid connection, technical design, commercial strategy, project economics and financing readiness must all come together before significant capital can safely move into construction.
This course provides a practical, structured introduction to the complete renewable energy project development lifecycle - from initial opportunity and origination through Ready-to-Build, Notice to Proceed, construction, commissioning and Commercial Operation Date.

New land may create environmental constraints. Those constraints may require redesign, which can then affect energy yield, CAPEX, permitting and the project schedule.
This interaction between different workstreams is at the heart of professional renewable project development.
The course focuses primarily on utility-scale solar PV and onshore wind, with selected references to hybrid projects and battery storage where relevant. It uses internationally applicable development principles with a strong European context, while recognising that detailed permitting, land and grid connection procedures vary between jurisdictions.
