Description:
Snappy Driver Installer (SDI) is a portable driver installation and update software that does not require an Internet connection. It is a reworking of Glenn Delahoy's original SDIO program. Like SDIO, it leads among programs in this class in terms of driver selection accuracy and speed. By classifying drivers, it prioritizes the most suitable drivers (regardless of newer versions) to minimize risk to end users. Professionals may appreciate the wealth of driver information provided and the ability to select an alternative driver.

Main features of SDI:

The most advanced driver selection algorithm among analogs.
The program "weighs" about 4 megabytes (both versions) and does not require third party programs/libraries.

This distribution was built on the basis of the SamDrivers collection with the following differences:

Distribution is in the form of a folder, not an .iso image, allowing you to select driver packages to download.

How to backup drivers?
Before creating a backup, you must install all the necessary drivers to ensure that they work.
Turn on expert mode.
Put a check mark in the "Current Versions" line.
Press the "Select All" button.
Click the "Extract to..." line and specify the folder to create a backup.

Note: Since the drivers for backup are taken directly from the driver packages, because the copy of the installed drivers may not be successful due to missing/deletion of some files required for installation, in addition to drivers specific, the program will unpack some others. . Don't be surprised by files that are not directly related to a particular driver.


Various useful things for working with the program that you need to know
Clicking the controller panel turns the check box on or off.
The "Install" button starts the installation of the selected drivers.
Clicking on the driver panel while holding down the Shift key starts the installation of this driver.
During the installation, you can add/exclude drivers from the installation.
It is possible to cancel the installation of the driver before its final unpacking.
Clicking on the general progress bar stops the installation.
If you hold down the space bar while hovering over the drivers panel, a table is displayed with all the alternate drivers for that device. The list is ordered from most suitable to least suitable.
Clicking the double checkmark icon on the right side of the driver panel displays a full list of alternative drivers for the device.
You can also display alternative drivers using filters in expert mode.
If you hold down the Ctrl key while hovering over a driver, a tooltip is displayed that compares the installed driver with the proposed one. Preferred features are highlighted in green. The lower a driver's score, the better a fit.
Right-clicking on the controller panel opens the context menu.
Clicking on the "System Information" panel opens the "Device Manager".
Right-clicking on the "System Information" panel opens a context menu where you can specify from the list the system for which drivers for this hardware configuration will be found/selected.
The program window can be dragged anywhere in it.
In case of adding/removing a device, the program itself will update the list of drivers.
When you try to write the autorun.inf file to a flash drive, you may receive a warning about a possible virus.
By pressing the F8 key, you can change the display mode of the drivers in the list. One click displays the name of the driver package with this driver on the right side of the driver panel. The second click moves the driver package name above the driver/driver group. The third press deletes the driver package name. (the same actions are available in the "Options" dialog)
If you hold down the Ctrl key while rotating the mouse wheel, you will be able to increase or decrease the interface elements in the program window. Pressing Ctrl+0 returns the dimensions of the program interface elements to "default". The alternative combination of holding down the Ctrl key and the "+" and "-" keys on the keyboard works the same way. (the same actions are available in the "Options" dialog)

How to reduce the size of SDI
You can remove any driver package and even more than one. According to your wishes and needs...
Server drivers for video cards are usually in low demand, drivers for Win XP are irrelevant for some, for laptops it is often better to install drivers from vendors, etc.

P.S. The indexes/SDI bin file cannot be removed when removing the driver pack, weight is light there.
