The Anson File is the latest in a series of Air-Britain publications devoted to individual types of British military aircraft. Each provides detailed background information on the particular type of aircraft covered, and forms the basis for further research. The ubiquitous Avro Anson, which soon became commonly and affectionately referred to as "Faithful Annie", first entered service in 1936, and the last machine did not leave the RAF until 1968, nearly a third of a century later. During the war it served with every Commonwealth air force, and many examples were subsequently flown by civil operators.
