If you truly want to understand HOW Newton discovered the laws of gravity, and how the moon, not the apple was the key, then this is the perfect course for you. This is a perfect course for people who are interested in astronomy, stargazing, or history. We take a step by step approach to explain how we got to Newton. Basic Space Science Part I covers astronomy's incredible journey from about 10,000 BC to 0. This course starts at the beginning with the basic observations all astronomers can see. We then gently add some math to help us unravel, step by step, the key mysteries in the universe. You'll learn how to prove: the shape of the Earth, the size of the Earth, the size of the Moon, the distance to the Moon, the distance to the Sun, andand the size of the Sun. In part II we'll continue our journey byetermining the correct order of the planets, Discovering how planets really move, Determining the size of the solar system, and figuring out how the moon unlocked the secret to gravity.
